Welcome to the Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) Anesthesia Technology Continuing Education (ACE) Program. We are excited you have chosen OCCC to support your journey toward becoming a Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) through the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) Practical Experience Pathway (PEP).

Since becoming ASATT's first approved PEP Continuing Education provider in 2022, OCCC has served more than 300 anesthesia technicians across 29 states. Our graduates have achieved an 80% first-attempt pass rate on the ASATT National Certification Examination (NCE), exceeding the national average and demonstrating our commitment to high-quality professional education.

This program is designed for experienced anesthesia technicians pursuing certification through the ASATT Practical Experience Pathway. Applicants should generally have five years of experience as an anesthesia technician in a Level I or Level II trauma center. Individuals nearing the experience requirement may enroll; however, participants are responsible for ensuring they meet all ASATT eligibility requirements, including the required work experience and ACLS certification, before applying for certification.

The ACE Program awards continuing education units (CEUs) approved by ASATT to satisfy the educational requirements of the PEP process. This is a continuing education program and does not confer college credit or an academic certificate. Participants are responsible for meeting all ASATT certification requirements beyond completion of this program.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of your professional development and look forward to helping you achieve your certification goals.

Anesthesia ClaasroomProgram Mission

The mission of the Oklahoma City Community College Anesthesia Technology Continuing Education Program is to provide current, academically rigorous instruction designed to prepare Certified Anesthesia Technicians (Cer.A.T.) to advance their credential to Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) within the anesthesia care team as defined by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) and other professional regulatory bodies. The program recognizes that quality anesthesia technology education must incorporate innovation, integrity, and diversity across the curriculum to prepare graduates to provide high-quality health care to the community.

Overview of the Program

The program is broken into four primary courses that offer participants 52 CEUs at the program's conclusion. Practical Experience Pathway (PEP) and Cer.A.T.s who complete the program, earn ACLS, and complete the PEP or Advancement Program Application as outlined by ASATT are eligible to sit for the ASATT NCE Exam.

The program's four courses are delivered online in eight-week sessions throughout 16 weeks.

The curriculum was developed by program faculty with particular attention to the curricular standards outlined by ASATT. This program is not under the purview of CoA-ATE or CAAHEP and does not require approval from this CAAHEP, as it does not confer a degree and awards Continuing Education Units as designated by ASATT. The program was approved by ASATT to provide PEP coursework.
