ATTENTION! Close Alert Box Oklahoma City Community College, including the Family and Community Education Center and the Capitol Hill Center, will open on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. All classes and activities will resume as normal.

Employees who cannot reasonably return to work tomorrow should contact their supervisors, if possible.  OCCC has generous leave policies that may be used to take additional days off work, if necessary.

Due to far reaching effects of the recent tornado that damaged Newcastle, Moore and the south Oklahoma City metro, Oklahoma City Community College has extended the deadline by which faculty must turn in final grades. OCCC faculty were asked to have grades turned in by noon today, but some may have been unable to meet this deadline. This could result in delay to grades being posted. Students that have questions about their grades should contact the Office of the Registrar at 405-682-7512.

Students who have missed an intersession class are urged to contact their professors about any absences due to the damage resulting from the recent tornado and the closing of the campus.

Additionally, the college will be flexible with students who are enrolled for the summer intersession that started on May 20, 2013. Students who are now unable to attend intersession should contact the Office of the Registrar at 405-682-7512.

Welcome to the Psychology Lab

Introduction

The purpose of the Psychology Lab is to help all students who are enrolled in a psychology course succeed. The Psychology Lab is mainly staffed by Supplemental Instructors who are psychology majors and have completed Introduction to Psychology (PSY 1113). In addition to Supplemental Instructors, faculty who teach Introduction to Psychology also maintain lab hours during the semester. During select times, professors are available for one-on-one tutoring and guidance. Any professor can guide any student who is taking the class, be it their own student or not, or be it an on-campus or online student.

In addition to Supplemental Instructors and professors, the lab has paper and pencil practice quizzes for each chapter that are similar to what students will find on their unit exams. The purpose of practice quizzes is to help students determine whether or not they have mastered the required learning objectives and receive help if needed.

Beyond practice quizzes, the lab also has 20 computers for student use.  Students are encouraged to use these computers to log into the college's online learning platform, Moodle, or to complete any assignments required for class in Connect. If needed, students can ask for guidance from the lab staff or a professor. The computers also have helpful web links for both Introduction to Psychology and Developmental Psychology.

If a student finds that he or she does not have their textbook, the lab has a few copies that can be used within the lab. The lab also has copies of the accompanying Study Guide for Introductory Psychology.
