SCMS recently won the Association of Community College Trustees' (ACCT) Charles Kennedy Equity Award for the western region.     OCCC Student Life hosts DACA discussion in Excel Series

    Oklahoma City Community College's (OCCC) Office of Student Life presented its second Excel Series program of the fall semester Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017. The featured topic was "DACA program: What Now?" The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive order signed into law by President Obama in 2012 has undergone scrutiny under the new Trump administration. The law allows for children of undocumented residents who meet certain criteria to remain in the U.S. legally. Expiration of DACA program protections subjects these individuals to the possibility of deportation to a country they, in reality, may never have known. Read more...

    OCCC President Steward named grand marshal for Fiestas de las Americas parade

    Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) President Jerry Steward has been named the grand marshal for the 12th Annual Fiestas de las Americas parade Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017. Fiesta de las Americas is an outdoor festival in the Capitol Hill District that attracts thousands of visitors for a multicultural celebration during Hispanic Heritage month. The Parade of the Americas kicks off the festival at 10 a.m. and begins at Capitol Hill High School, travels north on Walker, east on Southwest 25th Street, to Robinson Ave. ending at Capitol Hill Elementary School.
