Craft.
At OCCC Theatre Arts, you’ll learn and participate in an eclectic collection of performance styles, including classical, modern, mainstream, and experimental theatre. You’ll build practical skills of the body, mind, and voice, and improve stamina, poise, and performance technique, so you’ll be ready to perform at a high level. You’ll study the foundations of theatre, including its history, genres, methods of performance, and technical theatre.
Self.
Personal growth and self-confidence are essential success factors in Theatre Arts. Theatre is both a creative outlet and a technical craft, an immersive experience with infinite possibilities, influences, and opportunities. At OCCC Theatre Arts, you’ll find yourself far removed from your comfort zone, free to express yourself and embody characters and experiences you may have never considered.
Community.
What’s a community college without a community? OCCC’s Theatre Arts is a community built and sustained by a diverse student body, experienced faculty, and a thriving city that craves new and intimate artistic experiences. You’ll find support, resources, job opportunities, friends, and mentors along the way. You’ll forge great partnerships with each other that will benefit you in your future theatre endeavors.
Our Students Get Jobs.
Whether you want to be on stage or backstage, in front of a camera or behind it, running lines or running lights, there’s a place for you at OCCC Theatre Arts. Theatre isn’t an easy business to break into, and you’ll push yourself farther than you ever thought you could, but with the training we provide, and the community you’ll join, you will be ready for what comes next.
We prepare students for success in the Theatre Arts, while providing enriching experiences for our community.
We engage with each other, and we enrich the theatrical offerings in our community, through a variety of theatrical styles and genres of coursework and play productions.
We help students learn to create lively, thoughtful, and engaging theatrical works. We amplify their diverse and distinct voices and visions, and empower them to go on to thrive in any Theatre Arts community.
