Inspired to Teach

ARE YOU INSPIRED TO TEACH?
You could earn up to $25,000 in scholarships!

Inspired to Teach offers qualified Oklahoma college students an opportunity to earn scholarships and benefits. Program participants may have the opportunity to earn up to $25,500 as they complete their Educator Preparation Program and teach in Oklahoma.

Requirements

  • Graduate from high school, graduate from homeschool, or earn a GED.
  • Meet higher education admission standards at:
    1. a public or private Oklahoma university with an accredited Oklahoma teacher education program, or
    2. a community college with an approved articulation agreement with an accredited Oklahoma university teacher education program.
  • Declare a major in an accredited Oklahoma university teacher education program with a degree leading to a standard teaching certificate or declare a major at a community college with an approved Inspired to Teach articulation agreement with an accredited Oklahoma teacher education program leading to a standard Oklahoma teaching certificate.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time (12 credit hours per semester) undergraduate student each semester of eligibility in the program.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and a minimum 2.5 GPA throughout matriculation.
  • Prior to entry into the Inspired to Teach program, the student shall agree to complete the Oklahoma teacher preparation education program and agree to teach in an Oklahoma public prekindergarten through 12th grade (PK-12) school for a minimum of five (5) consecutive years upon graduation and licensure as a teacher.

If you meet the above criteria, read on for step-by-step instructions on applying for the Inspired to Teach Scholarship at OCCC!

1. Apply to OCCC at OCCC.edu.

Undocumented Students:

  • Apply to OCCC.
  • Apply to the Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant Program (OTAG) for in-state tuition (if qualified).
  • Complete affidavit of intent for in-state tuition.

English as a Second Language Students (ESL):

  • Enroll in free ESL classes at (405) 682-7873.
  • Take the TOEFL; schedule at (405) 682-7531.

2. Schedule an appointment with a success advisor at (405) 682-7535.

3. Apply for the Inspired to Teach program.

  • Check your eligibility and review the program at BeInspired2TeachOK.org.
  • Complete the I2T application digitally here or fill out the printed version in the OCCC Pre-Education and Inspired to Teach booklet.
  • Remember to list the four-year institution educational pathway you plan to attend, listed on Page 3.
  • Return your complected application to OCCC Academic Affairs.
  • Received notification from OSHRE regarding your application status.

4. Return your application.

  • Return your completed application (digital or paper) to the Office of Academic Affairs at OCCC.
