A variety of educational opportunities for certifications, an Associate in Science (A.S.) or an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree are available for students interested in the business or information technology fields. Students may study programs in accounting and finance, automotive management, business, computer-aided technology, computer science, and management.
Choosing to become a member of the business community means learning a variety of skills. If you decide to pursue this career option, you will study courses like economics, accounting, statistics and computer science in addition to taking general education classes. You can pick from many associate degrees in business from Oklahoma City Community College as well as several business certificate programs. Your educational options include this two-year general business program that transfers easily to the college or university of your choice.
You’ll learn: •A.S.E. engine performance, engine repair, suspension and steering and brakes and new products. •Electrical theory and automotive heat and air conditioning theory •Brake system repair and diagnosis, anti-lock brake system diagnosis, alignment procedures and theory and suspension diagnosis The automotive technology degree programs offer traditional classes as well as individual-paced (IP) courses to fit with your needs and lifestyle. This degree program is accredited by the ASE Education Foundation.
If you’re interested in computer science and the behind-the-scenes roles of programmers, you can work toward an associate degree in applied science with a computer programming option at Oklahoma City Community College. OCCC provides a strong foundation in computer science and is a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance.
This program requires that you complete CompTIA A+ certification preparation training. Because of the increasing threats to computerized data and information, the need for cyber information security specialists is at an all-time high. These cyber information security specialists protect computer users from hackers and electronic fraud, viruses and worms and more. Oklahoma City Community College has been recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance (CAE2Y) by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Agency.
Arts, English, and Humanities is one of the largest Divisions on campus. It offers a wide variety of courses and fields of study. Support courses include English Composition, Critical Thinking, Philosophy, Leadership, and Success in College and Life. Degrees are available in Digital Cinema Production, Digital Media Design, Liberal Studies, Diversified Studies, Music, Humanities, Visual Arts, Pre-Education, Spanish, Speech and Theatre Arts, and Journalism and Broadcast. Certificates are available in Spanish, Digital Cinema Production, and Workplace Writing and Communication. The Division hosts the student literary journal (Absolute), as well as the student newspaper (The Pioneer). It is also the home of both the Writing Center and the World Languages and Cultures Center.
A brief Description of the Visual Arts Program: We offer a range of traditional Fine Art studio based and Art History lecture courses. Students will learn to draw and paint from life observation, work with the Principles of Design in 2-D and 3-D Foundation courses, and build a professional portfolio website for whichever direction they wish to pursue, whether it be a 4- year degree or working in the art arena and finally have a group or solo exhibition at the completion of the program.
An Associate Degree in Science in Pre-Education offers a degree path for students interested in teaching at the elementary grade-school level.
Journalism students focus on the study of writing news for the print media. Students learn how to interview insightfully, write accurately and edit for clarity. Courses cover topics such as photography, journalism, broadcasting and advertising. Associate degrees in Journalism and Broadcasting prepare students to transfer to a four-year college or university. After graduating, career opportunities may be found as a reporter, photographer, author, teacher, news commentator, advertising executive or public relations practitioner. Areas of emphasis are also available in broadcasting, speech and public relations.
This degree provides students the opportunity to become trained in the technical aspects of film and video production providing the community with a trained workforce of technicians able to handle lights, cameras, props, sound, and set design for film and video projects.
The Engineering Program at OCCC offers a complete selection of easily transferable basic engineering courses that prepare students to be successful wherever they go. Academic rigor with individual attention you can afford!
OCCC offers AS programs in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, and Engineering. Our core courses in chemistry, mathematics, engineering, physics, and biology prepare students to enter almost any science or engineering BS program at a University. Students find careers in education, medicine, field biology, biochemistry, microbiology, forensics, geoscience, physics, astronomy, mathematics, statistical analysis, engineering and many other fields. The division also offers an AAS in Engineering Technology. An associate degree in applied science or certificate of mastery in Engineering Technology will lead you directly into the job market as a highly skilled technician who can service, repair and overhaul various components and systems in areas such as aerospace and industrial, and residential electricity.
The Biological Sciences program at OCCC prepares students for careers as ecologists, biomedical scientists, nurses, teachers, brew masters, biotechnologists, immunologists, dentists, environmental scientists, and this list goes on. At OCCC, biology majors get their general education and biology basics completed and also complete elective courses that help start preparing for many of these career fields. Courses taken as part of the AS Biology degree from OCCC transfer to area 4-year schools, including UCO, OSU, and OU, among several others.

The OCCC Office of Student Life is the hub of all opportunity for non-academic engagement at the College. From student clubs and organizations to community service to employment assistance to culturally stimulating forums to fun events, Student Life provides students and the entire OCCC community with opportunities to engage with one another and experience personal growth.
OCCC’ Financial Aid Office provides financial aid advising and information to current and prospective students. Our Mission is to provide financial assistance for students, enabling access to higher education and supporting degree completion.

This nursing degree program provides the educational background you need for entry
into nursing practice as a Registered Nurse. Credits earned in this program may apply
toward a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. Program graduates
are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered
Nurses. The Program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and is accredited
by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN), 3390 Peachtree
Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA, 30326, 404-975-5000, www.acenursing.org. Applicants with certain felony convictions may not be eligible to test for licensure.

he Division of Health Professions at OCCC provides students with a quality education for careers in Anesthesia Technology, Emergency Medical Sciences (EMT and Paramedic), Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Care and Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. These programs have a unique focus on developing allied health professionals with solid entry-level skills. All programs are nationally accredited and pass rates on credentialing exams remain high. Maintaining cooperative relationships with hospitals and health care providers in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area ensures valuable clinical learning opportunities for students. The division continues to work to meet the needs of the community and the state for a skilled workforce in the health professions.
The Division of Social Sciences provides degrees in the fields of Child Development, Community/Public Health, History, Political Science/Pre-Law, Psychology and Sociology. Courses from several of our degrees transfer to area 4-year schools, including UCO, OSU, and OU, among several others.
The office of Student Accessibility and Support houses free, confidential Counseling for students, Disability Services for classroom accommodations for those who qualify, and Veteran Services for veterans, dependents, and National Guard who qualify for Veteran Educational benefits.
