Octarium
Paul Horsley of The Independent Insider writes Octarium has the "sonority that is as luxurious as a Lexus, as rich as triple-chocolate cake, as eloquent as a Shakespeare sonnet".
Kansas City-based vocal octet Octarium will present Should Have Been Choral, an evening of a cappella musical arrangements of secular songs originally composed as orchestral symphonies, operatic overtures, and music from Broadway shows and pop songs. Since its inception in 2003, Octarium (which is Latin for "Eight as One") has gained a national reputation for performances suffused with what composer Morton Lauridsen called "stunning artistry combined with an absolutely beautiful blending of voices". Octarium's mission is to foster and promote the development and appreciation of the art of choral music through innovative and engaging programming, seeking to inspire, enlighten, and educate. The Kansas City-based group offers a local subscription concert series, as well as two touring programs and educational outreach programs.
