It’s not uncommon for representatives from the Foundation for OCCC to hear comments like “isn’t it icky asking for money?” The reality of our work is that we try to align donor interests and passions with the mission and needs of the college. Here’s a perfect example.
Express Employment Professionals is an international company headquartered in Oklahoma City, and its vision is “to help as many people as possible find good jobs by helping as many clients as possible find good people.” They understand that education is vital to creating a vibrant economy through dynamic employment opportunities and well-qualified candidates. So they collaborated with the Foundation for OCCC to establish the Express Employment Professionals Workforce Readiness Scholarships.
The scholarships are targeted at students who are working toward a degree at OCCC with the intent of entering the workforce upon graduation, rather than transferring to a four-year school. About half of OCCC’s graduates each year fall into this category. This year, Express Employment Professionals funded 30 scholarships for OCCC students who will use their degree to better prepare for the workplace and improve their own family’s future.
There’s nothing “icky” about that! Thank you, Express Employment Professionals, for investing in the next generation of people who will move our community forward.
