The Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) President’s Leadership Class recently graduated 23 students.
The President’s Leadership Class (PLC) helps develop and enhance the leadership skills and knowledge of graduating OCCC students. The course explores personal, interpersonal, organizational, and social dimensions in the greater context of leadership. The goal of the program is to develop self-aware, ethical, and principle-centered future leaders with the ability to think critically, apply a proven process for decision-making, and communicate effectively.
“The President’s Leadership Class marks OCCC’s commitment to developing the next generation of community and business leaders.†OCCC President Jerry Steward said. “I commend these exceptional students for challenging themselves and successfully completing the course.â€
Graduates from the fall semester’s PLC program – its ninth class – possess different career goals, and come from a diverse range of personal backgrounds and cultures. Degree programs represented by the students range from nursing to engineering, from psychology to pre-education.
To be considered for participation, student applicants must meet certain grade and course standards and intend to graduate from OCCC. An application must be submitted with two letters of recommendation by college faculty or staff.
Dr. Liz Largent, professor of leadership and critical thinking, oversees the program application process. For more information, Dr. Largent may be reached via email at Liz.A.Largent@occc.edu. The application can be found online at https://www.occc.edu/leadership/index.html.
