Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) will present the trio GENTRI on Valentine’s Day at the OCCC Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Theater Thursday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available at tickets.occc.edu or the OCCC Box Office.
Established in June 2014, GENTRI (The Gentlemen Trio) provides a rich, tenor sound in three-part harmony. GENTRI is comprised of three highly trained tenors: Brad Robins, Casey Elliott and Bradley Quinn Lever, who all have extensive backgrounds in musical theater.
Between the three of them, they have starred in dozens of roles in shows such as “Phantom of the Opera,†“A Tale of Two Cities,†“Beauty and the Beast,†“AIDA,†“Tarzan,†and “The Scarlet Pimpernel.†Two months before coming together as a group, they each starred in a sellout run of “Les Misérables†at the Hale Center Theater, playing the roles of Valjean (Elliott), Marius (Robins) and Enjolras (Lever). Their signature sound can be called “cinematic pop,†a fusion of lush, epic orchestrations coupled with rich, dynamic three-part harmonies.
In 2015, GENTRI released their self-titled debut album, “GENTRI,” which proved to be a resounding success, and ranked at No. 5 on Billboard’s Classical Chart and No. 3 on the Classical Crossover Chart. Following the album’s debut, the group released their first music video for their original single “Dare,” which featured 8-year-old amputee dancer, Alissa Sizemore and made national news.
GENTRI also performs with notable artists, such as internationally acclaimed tenor Alfie Boe, Tony Award-winning performer Idina Menzel, rock band Journey and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. With an ability to take command of the stage, GENTRI provides warm, rich harmonies that inspire and uplift. Donning sports coats and pocket squares, the men decided to “bring gentlemen back,” as well as focus on uplifting and encouraging others. Casey Elliott explains, “I cannot think of a more fulfilling aspect of our mortal existence than to be doing something that brings joy and happiness to my life and others as well. For me that joy stems from the powerful mediums of music and storytelling.”
GENTRI will partner with the Oklahoma Community Orchestra, which will provide orchestral accompaniment. For more information about GENTRI, visit http://www.gentrimusic.com.
