Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) and Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre (CityRep) have again partnered with National Theatre Live! (NTL) to present pre-recorded theater productions to audiences in the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Theater.
The lineup’s next performance is a two-part event: “Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes.†Part one, “Millennium Approaches,†screens Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, and part two, “Perestroika,†screens Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, both at 6 p.m.
America in the mid-1980s. In the midst of the AIDS crisis and a conservative Reagan administration, New Yorkers grapple with life and death, love and sex, heaven and hell.
Andrew Garfield (“Silence,†“Hacksaw Ridgeâ€) plays Prior Walter along with a cast including Denise Gough (“People, Places and Thingsâ€), Nathan Lane (“The Producersâ€), James McArdle (“Star Wars: The Force Awakensâ€) and Russell Tovey (“The Passâ€).
This new staging of Tony Kushner’s multi-award winning two-part play, “Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes,†is directed by Olivier and Tony award winning director Marianne Elliott (“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time†and “War Horseâ€). Part One: “Millennium Approaches†was first performed at the National Theatre in 1992 and was followed by Part Two: “Perestroika,†the following year.
