Hiram and Carol Ophiohonren, a brother-sister duo at OCCC, have found a welcoming community that supports their academic and career goals. Hiram, who serves as Student Government Association president, is studying engineering, while Carol, inspired by her brother’s commitment to education, aims to become a nurse. Both are grateful for their scholarships, which ease financial stress and allow them to focus on academics, leadership, and their future.
Isabelle Araujo, a business major and international student from Brazil, faced the challenge of balancing her dreams with financial obstacles. Time and again, she found herself held back by the cost of college, but the scholarships she received were a lifeline. “I am very thankful to the Foundation and everyone who believes in students like me,” she said. With this support, Araujo has been able to move forward, overcome financial burdens, and pursue her goals with confidence.
Siria Parente, a recent graduate from the digital cinema production program, discovered her purpose at OCCC. In fall 2021, she enrolled in a film class for the simple joy of being behind the camera — only to find herself in one of Oklahoma’s top film programs, ranked among the top 30 in the U.S. and Canada. When asked why she loved her experience at OCCC, she said, “I love OCCC because I found my purpose.” Generous donor support eased her tuition burdens and made her journey possible.
Our “I Love OCCC at 53” campaign is all about making a difference by supporting our students and programs.
We have an exciting goal — help us raise $53,000 to celebrate OCCC’s 53rd year!
Every gift, whether it’s $53, $153, $1,053 or any heartfelt amount — helps students achieve their dreams.
