Dr. Cook received his doctoral degree in psychology from Oklahoma State University. He has taught undergraduate and graduate psychology courses since 1981, both full time and part time, with Oklahoma City Community College, University of Sciences and Arts of Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State University.Dr. Cook is a licensed Psychologist with HSP certification and he maintained a private practice between 1984 and 1994 providing evaluation, therapy, and consultation. Before joining OCCC full time, Dr. Cook was employed for 28 years with the State Department of Health’s Child Guidance Service beginning his career there as a mental health service provider and ending as the Director of Behavioral Health. Between 1990 and 2002, he served as Chief Psychologist of the Oklahoma Health Consortium’s Clinical Psychology Internship Program.He was a member of the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and served as Chair of that licensing board. Dr. Cook has served as Investigator of complaints against licensed psychologists and as Special Consultant to the Attorney General’s Office in prosecuting licensees.Additionally, Dr. Cook served as the delegate to the Association of State And Provincial Psychology Boards and was awarded Fellow status in 1997 with that international organization for his work in regulatory licensure standards. He received a Special Contribution Award (1999) from the Oklahoma School Psychological Association, and a Citation for Distinguished Contributions to the Profession of Psychology from the Oklahoma Psychological Association (1999).
