Alternative Fuels Training:
Oklahoma City Community College facilitates certification training for compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and electric vehicles (EV) and CNG compressors. Each program is designed for professionals with some education or experience in the vehicle maintenance and repair industry. The programs build on existing skills by covering safety, correct inspection methods, maintenance, and repair of CNG, LPG and EV vehicles with current equipment, tools, and service information. The training consists of lecture, demonstrations, and hands-on experience in this competency based program. This course will cover areas of study including: Safety, General Information, CNG/LPG Fuel Systems Inspection, EV Battery and Electrical Systems, Component and Line Fabrication, NFPA 52 and NEC Regulations, Driver Education and Lab Exercises. Upon completion of the course, each participant is required to pass a hands-on assessment at 100% and computer-based examination at 80%. Please note that this course is designed to prepare technicians for the Oklahoma State License Skill Assessments and Examination and is not an installation or fuel system diagnostic course. Participants have the opportunity to take the Oklahoma State License Exam and apply to the Oklahoma Department of Labor for state licensure once they have completed the course and passed all assessments and examinations.
