Q: "I'm a new student. What do I need to do to be admitted and enrolled?"
A: First, fill out an Application for Admission and submit it my mail, by fax at (405) 682-7817, or in person to the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. If you're under 21 years of age, you should submit a high school transcript, ACT scores, and transcripts from other colleges attended. Students over 21 need to submit college transcripts as well, but high school records are usually not required.

Q: "I've heard I have to take a test before I can take classes at the College. Is that true?"
A: The College uses a number of tools to help you decide which classes are the right ones for you. One of the tools is a placement test which will help you and your advisor identify your academic level.

Q: "Once I've been admitted, can I take any class I want?"
A: That depends. Previous coursework and assessment scores determine which classes you are eligible to take. Many classes have prerequisite courses which must be taken prior to enrollment. Other classes are available only to students who have been admitted to a special program.

Q: "I only want to take one class at Oklahoma City Community College. Do I have to fill out an application and turn in all of my transcripts?"
A: The application is required of all new students. Certain non-degree seeking students may be admitted as a "special" student and enroll in up to nine hours before submitting transcripts; however, if the class you want to take has a prerequisite which has been met at another college, a transcript must be submitted prior to enrollment.

Q: "What do I do if a class is full and I really need that class?"
A: Most classes have several sections offered at various times of the day, and early enrollment gives you the best selection. If the section is full, talk to your faculty advisor or counselor about rearranging your schedule, or as a last resort, contact the instructor of the class or the division office to find out when the class may be offered again.

Q: "If I want to take a class, does it have to be for credit?"
A: The College offers both credit and non-credit classes. Non-credit classes don't have the same academic requirements for enrollment. These classes are listed under Recreation and Community Services or Professional Development Institute. Credit classes may sometimes be audited. Auditing a class allows students to participate in a class without earning credit or a grade.
