OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Jan. 11, 2024) –
Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) will present “Jerry Herman: The Broadway Legacy Concert” as part of its Touring Attractions series on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the OCCC Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater.
The cast includes vocalist Ron Raines, a distinguished alumnus of Oklahoma City University and The Juilliard School whose illustrious international career spans musical theater, opera, concert, and television. He’s a Tony Award nominee for the acclaimed production of “Follies” and a three-time Emmy and Soap Opera Digest Award nominee for his role as villain Alan Spaulding on CBS’s longest-running daytime drama “Guiding Light.”
Jerry Herman, the legendary composer and lyricist of the American Musical Theatre, is celebrated for his influential role in shaping Broadway’s golden era. His timeless classics, including “Hello, Dolly,” “Mame,” “Mack and Mabel,” and “La Cage aux Folles,” have captivated audiences for decades. This concert is a tribute to his enduring legacy and showcases some of Broadway’s most iconic and uplifting songs.
Co-produced by the ASCAP Foundation and Spot-On Entertainment, the concert features a stellar cast of New York’s Broadway and concert performers as they bring to life the enchanting music and remarkable stories of one of the theatre’s true giants.
