Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) recently hired Mr. Von Allen as the college’s chief development officer and executive director of the OCCC Foundation.
Allen is a veteran fundraiser who most recently served as the president and CEO of the United Way of Norman. Before that, he was the director of development for the Stephenson Cancer Center at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and was previously the director of development at OU’s College of Arts and Sciences in Norman.
With over a decade of experience in higher education development, Allen is eager to begin fundraising work at OCCC. “Today, more than ever, our state needs a strong economy that comes from educational opportunities that are relevant, rigorous, accessible, affordable and convenient,†said Allen. “I’m glad to be at OCCC.â€
The chief development officer is responsible for fundraising efforts on behalf of the college and its foundation in addition to overseeing the development office. This team engages alumni, friends, businesses and foundations to invite them to invest in the future of OCCC’s students and the community.
Allen started work July 24, 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma and is a graduate of Western Heights High School in south Oklahoma City. He and his wife, Chris, recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and are longtime Norman residents.
OCCC enrolls more than 20,000 students and is currently the largest adult basic education provider in the state. OCCC offers a full range of associate degree programs that prepare students to transfer to baccalaureate institutions while other degree and certificate programs prepare students for immediate employment.
