What I love about O-Triple-C

I have always appreciated the family atmosphere that exists here at OCCC.  It is a joy to come to work, because I love my OCCC work family!  We get along great, and we have a lot of fun together.  I am very thankful for each and every one of them.

My Favorites:

Place to eat in OKC:  If it’s Mexican food, I am more than willing to try it!  When I was little, my parents always knew that on my birthday, we were going to a Mexican restaurant.  Guess who got to wear the sombrero, a lot?

Place on campus:  I really enjoy walking around the duck pond outside, seeing all the birds and enjoying the sunshine.

Hobbies:  Reading, crafting with my kids, spending time with my family and friends, singing in the car (not very well), bowling, and baking.

My random fact:  My personal motto is, “The mighty oak was once a little nut that stood its ground.”  For me, that means that I should always hold fast to my ideas, beliefs, and goals in order to make my dreams a reality.  Plus I’m a little nutty.

What I love about O-Triple-C

OCCC is a wonderful combination of community, culture, and advancement. I was a student here and the college helped to push my boundaries and allowed me to flourish to find my true interests. The caring and helpful staff is what made me realize this is where I wanted to be so I could help other students to grow like other staff helped me.

My Favorites:

Place to eat in OKC: It’s a toss-up between Go Go Sushi and Catfish Cove.

Place on campus: It depends on what time of day; first stop is the Coffee Shop and then on to the guilt center also known as the Wellness Center.

Hobbies: I love getting into a good book, going to concerts, and learning new things (advancements in technology and science), but the majority of my free time is spent doing experiments and projects with my daughter.

My random fact: When in school for my undergrad, I was so interested in learning, it was difficult to pick a major so I ended up with 3 minors and (almost) a double major.

What I love about O-Triple-C

I first came to O-Triple-C as an eighteen-year-old in 2010. In my almost six years on campus, first as student and now as an employee, I have come to love the close-knit, friendly atmosphere. That atmosphere helps to calm a student’s nervousness at starting college. O-Trip feels like home. That is a rare and treasurable feeling.

My Favorites:

Place to eat in OKC: Sheesh Mahal, on North May Ave. Ask for the one with goat and spinach. Delicious!

Place on campus: 2nd floor of the library – the best of the books, soft couches, and beautiful silence.

Hobbies: Reading, video games, singing in the car, and writing.

My random fact: My southern accent gets noticeably thicker when I’m feeling any intense emotion – anger, excitement, anxiety. I cannot control it, and I find it embarrassing.

OCCC is an awesome college to start at right after high school. I am so lucky to have wonderful co-workers and a great atmosphere to work in.

My Favorites:

Place to eat in OKC: Ted’s, San Marcos, or really any kind of Mexican food.

Place on campus: Coffee shop or cafeteria…or anywhere I can get hot chocolate.

Hobbies: I love going to estate sales, gardening, playing with granddaughters, and reading.

My random fact: Don’t be surprised if you see me getting down on the weekends. I love to go dancing and have a good time with friends and family.

What I love about OCCC

I love the friendliness and diversity of the folks I work with in Testing and Assessment. They make coming to work not only fun, but interesting and meaningful also.

My Favorites:

Place to eat in OKC: I really love to eat at home and my own cooking since I love to cook. My favorite place to eat for something quick is "Hummus" in Moore. Other places I like are Jamil's Steakhouse and the 1492 cafe in Midtown.

Place on campus: The pond in front of the campus, especially if there are geese and gulls there. Also, I love the revamped gym here. It rivals any gym in the OKC area. I spend a lot of spare time there.

Hobbies: I am an avid bird watcher and consider myself somewhat of an expert on Oklahoma birds. I also like to play pool whenever I get the chance.

My random fact: My maiden name is Garland, hence the name Judy Garland, a fact that caused me more than a little grief when I was younger.
