BiographyPeggy Jordan received her B.A from the University of Central Oklahoma with a double major in Psychology and Sociology. She stayed at UCO for her M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology before heading to Oklahoma State University to earn her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Jordan has worked full time for OCCC since 1999. Before serving as a full time faculty member, she was a Student Development Counselor and also served as the Director of the Center for Learning and Teaching. For the first twenty years of her professional career, Dr. Jordan worked in various state agencies and a private practice. After years of teaching clients coping skills and strategies to enhance motivation and feelings of worth, she returned to the college campus, with a strong belief that teaching and advising students offers them the greatest opportunities for satisfaction and success in life. She is active in professional organizations, currently serving as Chair of the Publications Advisory Board !
for the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). She also served as NACADA’s Two-Year Colleges Commission Chair. She was awarded NACADA’s 2007 Outstanding Advising Award in Faculty Advising and the 2008 Service to Commission Award from the national Two-Year Colleges Commission. Dr. Jordan served as a plenary speaker and faculty member for NACADA’s Faculty Seminar and as a faculty member for their Fall Institute. She has also presented numerous workshops for state, regional and national conferences.
Dr. Jordan is active on the OCCC campus where she is currently on the Cooperative Learning Training team and assists with faculty workshops at least twice yearly. She hosts monthly “family group” meetings for faculty who have completed training in Cooperative Learning. Dr. Jordan was a sponsor of Psi Beta and the Psychology/Sociology Clubs from 2000 to 2007 and serves on numerous committees.
