Transfer to a 4 Year University - OU

At Oklahoma City Community College, you can obtain an Engineering Associate's degree that will transfer as a Junior to a 4-year university to study the Engineering discipline of your choice. Due to our transfer agreements, you can choose your Engineering major at Oklahoma City Community College and take the courses needed to complete your Bachelor's degree.

For your Engineering Associate's degree at OCCC, the following Engineering course is required:   Professional Development. The remaining 12 to 15 hours can be chosen from a variety of Engineering Courses or Support Electives. These courses should be selected based on the requirements of your Engineering major at the transfer institution.

 

ADMISSION APPLICATION TO UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA

  • University of Oklahoma Application for Admission is online and includes the Transfer Scholarship application.  New users will need to create an account by choosing First Time User Account Creation.  Don't forget the following:
    • Choose Norman Campus
    • Application Fees must be paid by credit card through the online pay process.
      • $40 U.S. Citizen/ Permanent Residents
      • $90 International Students
      • Transfer GPA Requirements are provided below in Transfer to OU College of Engineering
  • Admission Application Deadlines:
    • Spring Semester:  November 1
    • To be eligible for Transfer Scholarships:   March 1 ?
    • Fall or Summer Semester:  April 1

 

TRANSFER TO OU COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

Graduation Requirements for the OU College of Engineering are as follows:

  • To enroll in courses at OU the following must be completed:
    • Admission Application has been approved and student has received acceptance email.  Apply for admission at least two months before application deadline.?
    • Student must be advised by the Williams Student Services Center for the College of Engineering degrees, or at the College of Earth and Energy for Petroleum Engineers.
    • Only after the student has been advised will he/she be allowed to enroll in courses.
    • Recommend all transfer students participate in Transfer Days in March which will allow them to be advised and enroll before any other students on campus.
  • Minimum of 60 hours must be earned at OU to graduate with a baccalaureate degree.
  • Complete 36 hours listed in the junior and senior years on the degree sheet at OU, 24 of these 36 hours must be in the major field.
  • In the  College of Engineering, a grade of C or better is required in each course in the curriculum.  Students must successfully complete prerequisite courses with a minimum C grade before proceeding to the next course.
  • Two college-level courses in a single foreign language are required; this may be satisfied by successful completion of 2 years in a single foreign language in high school or completing an Associate's Degree from OCCC.  Students who must take a foreign language at the University will have an additional 6-10 hours of coursework.
  • Transfer GPA Requirement for OU College of Engineering:
    • Less than 60 Hours attempted at OCCC & Oklahoma Resident: 2.50 GPA
    • Less than 60 Hours attempted at OCCC & Non-Resident:  3.00 GPA
    • More than 60 Hours attempted at OCCC & Oklahoma Resident:  2.00 GPA
    • More than 60 Hours attempted at OCCC & Non-Resident:  3.00 GPA

Listed below are the University of Oklahoma College of Engineering majors.  Double click on each Engineering major to access the OCCC Transfer degree sheet for that discipline.  Specific instructions for each degree are also provided since several require concurrent enrollment at OU and specific engineering/support electives at OCCC.  Each degree sheet provides a plan to graduate in 4 years, and details what needs to be accomplished to take the courses offered at OU in the first semester Junior year.  A student may decide to take fewer hours per semester or not participate in concurrent enrollment, but that will delay their progress at OU by a semester or a year at least.

  • AEROSPACE ENGINEERING Degree Sheet - Need 2.8 GPA and specific courses completed to apply for the Professional Program at OU (Junior level courses).  Requires concurrent enrollment at OU during the Sophomore year.  Must apply to Professional Program before enrolling in First Semester Junior year at OU.
  • ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING Degree Sheet - Requires concurrent enrollment at OU during the Sophomore year. 
  • CHEMICAL ENGINEERING Degree Sheet -  Requires concurrent enrollment at OU during the Sophomore year.
  • CIVIL ENGINEERING Degree Sheet -  Requires concurrent enrollment at OU during the Sophomore year.
  • COMPUTER ENGINEERING Degree Sheet - Need 2.0 GPA and specific courses completed to apply for ECE Upper Division Courses at OU.  Requires concurrent enrollment at OU during the Second Semester Sophomore year.  Must apply to Upper Division ECE courses before enrolling in First Semester Junior year at OU.
  • COMPUTER SCIENCE Degree Sheet - Requires enrollment at OU during the Second Semester Sophomore year.
  • ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Degree Sheet - Need 2.0 GPA and specific courses completed to apply for ECE Upper Division Courses at OU.  Requires concurrent enrollment at OU during the Second Semester Sophomore year.  Must apply to Upper Division ECE courses before enrolling in First Semester Junior year at OU.  At OCCC, Modern Physics should be taught by Dr. Tad Thurston and bring syllabus to OU Advising.
  • ENGINEERING PHYSICS Degree Sheet  - PHYS 2014 and PHYS 2114  transfer to OU, but an extra course required to reach 10 hours.  Must take PHYS 2303 Electronics, PHYS 3043 Physical Mechanics I, PHYS 3053 Physical Mechanics II, and MATH 3413 Physical Mathematics I at OU.  Requires concurrent enrollment at OU during the Second Semester Sophomore year.  At OCCC, Modern Physics should be taught by Dr. Tad Thurston and bring syllabus to OU advising. 
  • ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING Degree Sheet  - Requires concurrent enrollment at OU during the Sophomore year.

  • PETROLEUM ENGINEERING Degree Sheet - Transfer GPA Requirement for the College of Earth and Energy is 2.50.  Requires concurrent enrollment at OU during the Second Semester Sophomore year.  Need P E 3213 and P E 3221 to enroll in upper division P E classes.  Three OCCC courses are needed to enroll in P E 3213.
